Strong Women, Strong Bones 8:15-9:15 AM Carole Lane Cost: $5 per

Weight-bearing, resistance training based on the Tufts Medical Program.

Session IV: Moloka’i, by Alan Brennert The grim struggle
of a Hawaiian woman who contracts leprosy as a child in Honolulu
during
the
1890s and is deported to the island of Moloka'i, where she
grows to adulthood at the quarantined settlement of Kalaupapa.
Rachel
Kalama is
the plucky, seven-year-old heroine whose family is devastated
when first her uncle Pono and then she develop leprous sores
and are
quarantined
with the disease. While Rachel's symptoms remain mild during
her youth, she watches others her age dying from the disease
in near
total isolation from family and friends. Rachel finds happiness
when she meets Kenji Utagawa, a fellow leprosy victim whose
illness brings
shame on his Japanese family.

of the more mature fitness conscious individual. Class
will meet

Tuesday and Thursday. Purchase a “Passport to Health” card

Opera the First Broadway 3:00-4:30 PM John Tischio
Cost: $40/$55
Opera was the Broadway of its day. It was a very popular,
not an elite form of entertainment. This is an overview
course covering
all aspects of the subject. Each week we will feature
a single opera and discuss its origins and the life and
times
of the
composer.
Most of the operas reviewed will be well known to most,
but other no so well known. Why not join other kindred
spirits
and celebrate
the joys of this great art form.

This is for beginner and intermediate painters to learn
techniques and develop skills in oil painting.

For men and women - Seated in a chair you will start
with light cardio with stretches, jobbing, kick
outs and more.
Then you
will
do strength training such as bent over rows, bicep
